Not pointwise approach to the wind field retrieval from scatterometer data

Abstract: In this paper we propose a different approach to thewind field retrieval over the sea surface from thescatterometer data. This approach is based on theexploitation of different properties of the wind fieldwhich allow the coupling of the wind fieldreconstruction in nearest neighbor points of thescatterometer measure grid (not pointwise method). Theresults obtained by the reconstruction procedure onERS-1 scatterometer data over the Mediterranean sea areshown. !12
