Abstract: A mobile multi-channel backscatter lidar for aerosol remote sensing is established at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Munich. The scientific objectives, the instrument concept, and the present state of the data evaluation schemes are briefly described. The potential of the lidar will be demonstrated by several experiments planned for the near future. !11
