Abstract: In the paper, an approach to adjustable directional single-mode optical fiber coupler is put forward properly, and the effect of coupling area on coupling ratio is given in detail. The effect is calculated theoretically. In the end, the coupler with a continuously variable coupling ratio has been fabricated. !3
