摘要

Our longterm research goal is to understand fundamental mechanisms of neuro-endocrine gland assembly and differentiation, using the rat adrenal medulla as our model system. During assembly and maturation of the adreanal medulla, as in other endocrine organs, a variety of cell types including parenchymal chromaffin cells, cortical cells and endothelial cells interact through reciprocal, intercellular signals which, in part induces the ordered differentiation of both cell types into what is known as the "endocrine structure".
