Existing 1D and 2D models are used to simulate ground penetrating radar (GPR) field surveys conducted in a stratified limestone terrain. The 1D model gave good agreement in a simple layered section, accounting for multiple reflections, velocity variations and attenuation. The 2D F-K model used gave a good representation of the patterns observed due to edge diffraction from a fracture in limestone, although the model could not account for the attenuation caused by irregular blocks filling the fracture.
