Recent wave energy research in Sweden

Summary form only given. The main aim of the governmental waveenergy program is to evaluate whether wave energy could contribute tothe future Swedish energy supply, especially in light of the decision toeliminate nuclear power before 2010. In the IPS-buoy (InterprojectService AB) project, a prototype was built in 1979 and tests werecarried out at sea in 1980 and 1981. In 1985 a smaller buoy fornavigation purposes was tested. With respect to the hose pump concept,sea trials were carried out in 1983 and 1984. A small light-buoy wasalso tested in 1985. Calculated cost for large scale power plants isless than 4 cents/kWh. The wave rotor is a promising concept of whichonly small models have been tested
