The authors' development and production of holographic optical elements (HOE) combines lens-design, computer generated holograms (CGH), and dichromated gelatin (DCG) as recording material to obtain flexible holograms with high efficiency for industrial applications. The compensation of aberrations by means of a CGH was an important goal of a test run performed covering the formal design of a holographic lens, followed by the computation and writing of a CGH, the recording of the HOE and measurements of its imaging quality and diffraction efficiency.
