INTERCONNECTION AND TWO-WAY FILE TRANSFER BETWEEN NOVELL AND MAINFRAME

摘要

The general implementation method of interconnection between Local Area Network (LAN) and mainframe is first explored. Based on the analysis of the "Terminal Emulation" method, a new interconnecftion method "Virtually Shared Device (VSD)" is then proposed. Finally,the interconnection environment, the design of interconnection gateway, and the implementation of two-way file transfer between Novell network and mainframe IBM3031 are described in detail.The interconnection of LANs and mainframes has attracted more and more people's attention. It provides an essential means of sharing the mainframe software and hardware resources for the LAN users, and also makes it possible to communicate mutually between the LAN users and the mainframe users.
