THE CHALLENGE OF THE FUTURE

Generally, "intelligent building" is the name given to buildings which have been purposely designed to employ-and coordinateprocess control and data communications technology to best advantage, in order to make the most of the resources and facilities available to run the services. During the last four or five years, teleports have mushroomed, and many more are being planned. Better spectral efficiency and better echo suppression, digital microwaves, quick and easy way to add T1 circuits to corporate networks are some important arguments to make teleports competitive with the new fiber optic cables. A new generation of buildings is on its way and the combination with teleports and intelligent networks (IN) represents a global challenge.
