A service analysis is presented for three classes of customers' premises network environments: the residential (home), medium-office, and large-office environments. The service analysis includes audio and video broadcast services and has to be seen in the time frame 1995-2000. High-definition television has not been taken into account. The analysis is based on the Erlang theory and as such is only an approximation, but gives a good idea of the service requirements from the customers' point of view. After introduction of the proposed architecture for the customers' premises network, interface payload requirements are derived for the terminal and network interfaces.
