Microgovernor is a state-of-the-art design but the author shows how it is suited equally to existing and new turbine installations. Computer power and accuracy are harnessed to provide cost effective custom functions and to provide a novel mechanical interface. The conflict between software customising and governor safety requirements is resolved. The flexibility of microgovernor offers strong benefits in a refurbishment scheme.
