This is the first part of the presentation of SOURCE, a new Matlab-based interplanetaryglobal optimization tool with very short execution times. The fundamentalsof the algorithm are presented: first, the matrix generation, which isbased on the evaluation and storage of porkchops representing the solution ofLambert problems is discussed. Special attention is given to singularities (resonanttransfers) and limitations (transfer with not enough transfer time, △v gravityassist). Then a series of filters based on matrix manipulations are presented.Finally, the last step based on dynamic programming is detailed.
