Considering the notable interest in the renewables integration to the power grids, especially the small-scale batteries in the residential sector, the efficiency of the batteries is one of the most important factors that should be considered. Several factors affect the efficiency of the battery and its lifetime such as temperature, aging, and the battery’s charge and discharge profile. In this paper we consider the effect a small-scale battery’s efficiency and lifetime on its performance during its connection to the power grid. It is shown that the battery performance in the power grid is highly affected by its efficiency. Also. it is shown that battery integration under certain efficiency is no longer beneficial for the grid and the battery owner.
