In this paper, we have solved the dispersion equation of a leaky wave antenna based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) according to numerical method instead of HFSS. The real(β) and imaginary(α) parts of propagation constant along radiation aperture have been obtained. Our solution for designing of leaky wave antenna uses numerical method in order to decrease the time of designing and considers the real(β) part of propagation constant to be constant along the aperture to improve the antenna pattern. With regards to calculated propagation constant by numerical method, we have designed a leaky wave antenna based on SIW in 35 GHz. The results of numerical method compared to results of HFSS are faster. According to this numerical method, a new software has been designed. The new software which was designed is under the condition that β is variable. The new software can receive a desired side lobe level as an input and designs aperture meandering and far field pattern of a leaky wave antenna based on SIW in millimeter-wave band. We present this software and results of its simulations. The proposed antenna can be applied for beam steering application.
