In this study, a novel type-2 fuzzy (T2F) PID (T2FPID) controller is proposed for the load frequency control (LFC) of a nonlinear 2-area power system which suffering from input delay. It is clear that the input delay can degrade the functioning of the plant. In the T2FPID controller, appropriate tuning of output scaling factor (OSF) can improve the functioning of the plant, especially in handling the delay and uncertainties. In this study, a Lyapunov-Krasovskii (L-K) functional is utilized to figure out the stability of the designed LFC, and the tuning laws are obtained for the adaptive parameters using this functional. To illustrate the usefulness of the suggested adaptive T2FPID controller, a comparison to a non-adaptive T2FPID controller is given for a 2-area system with input delay.
