The paper considers the correlation properties of a composite chaotic signal and the capabilities of their application in radar landing systems. The correlation properties of the composite chaotic signal are compared with radio pulses that are used in existing aircraft radar landing systems. It was demonstrated that the use of composite chaotic radio pulses in landing systems significantly increases their range resolution and, taking into account the singularities of a composite chaotic signal, reduces the effect of multipath wave propagation on the quality of aircraft detection and ensures their secrecy due to the signal shape complexity. The properties of such existing signals are compared with phase-code-keyed radio pulses. Based on the analysis of the ambiguity body and the ambiguity autocorrelation function of the sounding composite chaotic signal, it is shown that the range resolution, if used, is improved tenfold.
