A fully novel three-dimensional (3-D) microwave image reconstruction algorithm is presented, which based on echo data of stepped-frequency sweeping radar system. The algorithm is not restricted by far field as the traditional imaging algorithm. By synthetic aperture processing for radar data, the high resolution of the image can be achieved. The algorithm belong to a new three dimensional back-projected method, which can hold good accuracy of interpolation, 3-D image of target can be achieved through fast Fourier transform and integrating after interpolation. The imaging results from simulation and experiment were presented. These results show that the algorithm is correct, 3-D image reconstruction based on this back-projected method can provide a microwave 3-D image with high resolutions effectively.
