With positively increasing technological inventions and their intervention in our lives, there also exist the dark side of security breaches and potential threats which negatively affects our sustainable and secure growth. Security on networks is of utmost priority and methodologies like penetration testing help us achieve frequent quality checks in place. With an ever growing population and their heavy dependence on technologies, there is an ever increasing security and data threat which immediately calls for an unprecedented and highly secure set of methods, which are practical in nature, have minimal footprint, and can be employed across platforms, throughout the interdisciplinary industries for one common goal to “achieving security on networks and mitigating and identifying threats”. In this study, we review and propose practical solutions to implement penetration testing using a controlled setup. Raspberry Pi 3b+ (portable mini-computer) was used for studying and assessing the penetrability and identify network shortcomings using assessment tools, like built-in pen-testing tool. This manuscript mainly discusses the importance and applicability of smart devices for penetration testing developing vulnerability assessment.
