The work is devoted to the study the possibility of the impedance spectroscopy method application to study the process formation of multifunctional coatings by micro-arc oxidation (MAO). An automated method and technique for measuring the impedance of oxide layers in real time, allowing continuous non-destructive testing of the MAO coatings properties in the process of their formation has been developed. The efficiency of the method is confirmed by the results of experiments. The advantages and disadvantages of the method are identified and ways for its further improvement are outlined.
