Current era seems to mark the increased applications of high gain converters in renewable energy-based DC microgrids. This paper proposes a hybrid high gain converter for DC microgrid applications without using transformer and voltage multiplier. The proposed hybrid configuration is derived by combining the structure of a Cuk converter and buck-boost converter where the primary inductor and intermediate capacitor replaced by the switched inductor and switched capacitor to enhance the voltage gain, respectively. The proposed converter generates inverting output voltage and offers merits of high-gain with reduced stress on the components. The paper presents the operating principle, voltage gain analysis, and comparative study with the recently proposed high converter. The simulation studies presented which validates the theoretical analysis and performance of the proposed converter.
