The wireless sensor network’s neighborhood discovery is a tedious process, with incomplete information. In a dynamic situation where each node has an independent wake upcycle its hard to discover the neighbor without any correlation in their wake-up time. By utilizing the information from the donor node and by pro-active waking up on active slots, high energy is being utilized up. This phenomenon will still worsen when the number of nodes still increases. To eliminate this situation the energy-efficient active slot neighborhood discovery protocol is designed using the grey wolf optimization algorithm. The simulator performance discussed with the existing algorithm shows a drastic improvement in discovery latency by 30% and residual energy by 50% than the ordinary active slot-based neighborhood discovery algorithm.
