摘要

The harmonic distortion is a very sensitive issue for all power consumers, causes ill-effects such as an increase in loss and current and thereby reduce the life of equipment. The non-linear loads such as be personal computers, automatic machines, adjustable speed drives, lighting ballasts and other power electronic equipment are the main sources of harmonics. In this work, the harmonic mitigation was done of a computer laboratory by shunt connected tuned passive filters. Computer loads contains a switched-mode power supply (SMPS) in the system that generates harmonics at the input side of power supply due to non-sinusoidal current. The simulation work was carried out by modeling personal computer load and single tuned passive filter designed by equal and unequal method. The attractive results for harmonic reduction has been observed. Design of shunt passive power harmonic filters by using equal and unequal branch VAR can be a simple and cost-effective technique for the mitigation of harmonics.
