Under the condition of partial shading, the photovoltaic array's output presents multi-peak and nonlinear characteristics, which leads to the failure of the traditional MPPT control method. Based on the output characteristics of series photovoltaic cells under partial shading, this paper analyzes the reasons why the conventional MPPT algorithm falls into the local extremum and the oscillation of the output curve when steady. This paper proposes a new MPPT control method named Multi Constant Voltage Beetle Antennae Search (MVC-BAS), which combines the advantages of the multi constant voltage method and the Beetle Antennae Search algorithm. The MPPT control method based on boost circuit is verified in Matlab / Simulink platform and compared with the traditional MPPT control method. The simulation results show that the MCV-BAS algorithm has the advantages of few parameters needing, fast convergence, strong anti-interference, and avoiding falling into local extremum when dealing with complex shading conditions. This algorithm has advantages in tracking the maximum power point of the photovoltaic array under partial shading.
