Aiming at the difficulties of mechanical gas meter reading, this thesis proposes a gas meter reading scheme that based on image recognition technology. Taking advantage of the concentrated histogram of the color saturation of the counter of the gas meter, the position of the counter of the gas meter is searched in the image of the gas meter, and the digital characters are accurately segmented by the projection method. By using the gradient feature of logistics barcode, the position of logistics barcode can be located accurately, and the position of meter number can be obtained indirectly. Optical character recognition technology is used to recognize digital characters. In the experiment, the search of the counter and meter number in the image has high accuracy, and the search time meets the design requirements.
