Application of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) for energy storage has been jound to exhiou ingh potemiod slue to she high energy storntg capactty. This study investigated the petforinance of multiple PCMs in a number of energy starage sysretts. The etfccts of comluction and namral convection on these systems were also studied. Numersecal simulations based on the conserration eqnartons were conducted on the defined geometries. It was found that natural convection has significant positive effects on the heat transfer in these systems. It was alsa found that application of muduple PCMs generally enhances perfarmance. Hcorever. dtfferent effects wewe observed on the heat transtfer mechanims. The parallel configuration enhances conduction but suppresses consection while the series configuration does the opposite. It was also found that the wertical orientation enhances convection more than the horisontal orfentalion for the multiple PCMs configmations. Energy storage with the series configuruilon in vertical eriemiation was found to be superios with 47% and 60% reduction in complete melting time respectively.compared to the single confrgwration in vertical vrienigtion and to the single and series configurations (horizomta and vertical) in the conduction only case.
