We have demonstrated mannose-specific binding to the P. aeruginosa extracellular matrix with Man-CTM. Knockout studies revealed that key P. aeruginosa biofilm proteins LecB and CdrA are involved in the mannose-binding. These results suggest that Man-CTM may be an effective delivery platform for antibiotic therapy against P. aeruginosa infections. As Man-CTM has already demonstrated efficacy as an inhalable therapeutic against other pulmonary infections, future work will be performed to evaluate this platform's efficacy, including combination antibiotic therapy.
