The purpose of this work is to introduce and compare several relational database modelling methodologies and notations and to show their application through an example. The concepts, methodologies and notations are defined and described in order to compare them mutually. Moreover, a database model is shown for all five notations: IDEF1X, Crow's foot, Chen, UML, and MIRIS.
