The trend in sustainable transportation systems has led to an increase in the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road. However, a major issue associated with large scale EV adoption is the potential impact that charging EVs will have on the power grid. One way to address this increase in demand and to avoid exacerbated peak loads is through the application of vehicle to grid (V2G). However, for V2G to become widespread there must be incentives for EV owners to compensate for the resultant wear on EV batteries. In this paper, we develop a scheduling model for a large number of EVs in a smart parking lot to optimize owners' satisfaction from charging and discharging EVs. Finally, the proposed model is used in a simulated problem. The results of this study can be used by engineering managers for management and planning purposes in order to exploit V2G technology better.
