ENTROPY: AN INDICATOR OF EMERGENCE IN SYSTEM OF SYSTEMS

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to address the problem of recognizing and anticipating the transition of complex systems into emergent states. The scope of the following discussion includes socio-technical systems, systems of systems, and complex adaptive systems. The authors argue that recognizing increasing entropy in a system may be a useful leading indicator that the system is transitioning from a predicable to an emergent state.
