The construction delivery process has been led by the traditional Design-Bid-Build method for ages. While this process has shown great applicability in the construction industry, it can also deliver potential challenges to both owners and builders. The Design-Build delivery method has gained some attention as an alternative to the Design-Bid-Build delivery method as it seeks to improve its deficiencies. The impending issues of these construction processes will be addressed through a qualitative comparison of both the design-bid-build method and the design-build method. The ultimate goal is to determine whether design-build or design-bid-build is most appropriate for construction projects, while seeking to determine why one is used more often than the other. This study will assess topics regarding time to completion, project cost, claims, and more subjective matters such as the owner-contractor relationship and collaborative practices.
