1. Inspired by the successful demonstration of a commercial scale Warm Gas Clean-Up (WGCU) system by RTI at Tampa IGCC Plant, the concept of IMPGC is formed. 2. Advantages of IMPGC: a. Save energy by not fully cracking volatiles and only partially gasifying/oxidizing the char. b. Mildly gasified gas has higher energy density and uses a smaller gaisifer and piping system. c. Allow the bottom Rankine cycle to achieve a higher efficiency with regeneration through char combustion which can't be achieved by IGCC. d. Significantly reduce the power consumption of ASU from 14% of an IGCC to 3%. e. Can achieve a plant efficiency of 47.91 % (LHV) or 45.53% (HHV) which is higher than IGCC and USC plants and with much cleaner emissions. f. With a great potential for retrofitting old PC plants.
