A collocated multiple-input multi-output (MIMO) radar system can transmit multiple beams simultaneously. It can effectively control the transmitting beam width by means of sub-array division, providing greater flexibility in system resource management. In order to ensure the tracking accuracy of the target and save the system resources as much as possible in multi-target tracking for collocated MIMO radar with simultaneous multibeam, the resource management optimization model is proposed, where the sub-array number, the transmitting power, the working mode and the beam pointing can be controlled. The objective function takes both the desired tracking precision and the system resource consumption into consideration. Through solving the optimization problem, the adaptive resource management algorithm in multi-target tracking for collocated MIMO radar with simultaneous multibeam is obtained, which outputs the optimal parameters. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Compared with conventional phased array radar, the collocated MIMO radar can achieve the desired tracking precision with less system resource.
