In this paper, the nonlinear control problem of wind turbine for maximum power extraction is addressed. In the proposed method, based on nonlinear dynamic inversion (NDI) and model reference adaptive control (MRAC), a two stages adaptive controller is designed to track the desired rotor speed. At the first stage, using NDI, nonlinear dynamics of the system is transferred to a linear relation and in the second stage, using MRAC, desire reference is tracked. In this approach, in addition to tracking of the desired reference in steady state, using three parameters, the transient response of the overall system can be controlled too. Simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to standalone NDI controller.
