It is essential to accurately assess the engine performance, especially aircraft thrust to evaluate aircraft noise, emissions, and fuel consumptions. The purpose of this paper is to find the best way to calculate the thrust and fuel consumptions, particularly during the take-off and climb phase. Firstly, we present the thrust calculation method based on base of aircraft data (BADA). Secondly, based on the aircraft noise and performance (ANP) database, we calculate the net thrust available when operating at a specified thrust rating or when the thrust-setting parameter is set to a particular value. Thirdly, we employ a turbofan performance analysis model to calculate the theoretical thrust by applying the flight data recorder (FDR) data. Finally, the thrust calculation methods and the corresponding fuel consumptions are compared at the same operating conditions. The results illustrate how to best calculate the aircraft thrust and fuel consumption during the take-off and climb phase.
