摘要

Large majority of system faults are transient nature and they can be effectively eliminated with automatic reclosing of power lines. However, switcher devices are unnecessary stressed with autoreclosers in case of permanently faults, because fault will not be cleared with switching off the transmision lines. This paper analyzes the algorithm for estimating the location of the fault and the arc voltage, and gives the possibility to separate permanently faults from the transient faults. Information of the type of fault (permanently or transient) gives the possibility to block autoreclosers when the fault is not transient. Algorithm is applied on the threephase model of the transmission line formed by MATLAB/Simulink.
