Digitalization of Agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Current State and Examples of Good Practice

Agriculture is one of the most important economic activity in many countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Many indicators show that agriculture in BiH lags behind the developed countries and even the countries of the region. In order to increase the efficiency of agricultural production and reach sufficient competitiveness in the international market, agricultural producers in BiH must catch-up with the latest technological advancements and introduce digital technologies. In this process, the governments at different levels of authority should have a significant role by providing a legal and technological framework as a driving force for the digitalization of agriculture. This paper gives an overview of the current state of digitalization of agriculture in BiH by analyzing different elements of the digitalization process. Although the public-level services are not at the desired level, some advancements and innovations in the private sector indicate that BiH is slowly moving forward on the digital agenda.
