In this paper, a semi-physical system is established to simulate real airborne weather radar, which provides a training environment on the ground for flight crews. A display and control module (DCM) is designed in GL Studio software, and a serial port was adopted in DCM as a communication interface connected to a signal processing module. Pixel updating method is proposed to dynamically update the weather images by generating and deleting pixels. The experimental results show that the system meets the functional requirements of airborne weather radar for flight training. Compared to the graphic updating and texture updating methods, the proposed pixel updating method can improve the real-time and resolution performances of weather radar display, in addition to reduce the redundancy of the codes.
