One of the major problems encountered in the design and implementation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is the lack of endurance and flight time owning to the use of conventional fuels/batteries which have limited life, increase global warming and are costly. Additionally, lack of power restrictions limits the performance of such UAVs in most applications. There is a huge demand to solve this problem by using a non-exhaustible energy source such as solar energy. The latter has unlimited availability is a renewable source that is friendly to the environment. The use of solar cell arrays will help in increasing the UAVs' life without increasing their size.
