An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) image registration algorithm based on mutual information is proposed. Firstly, the mutual information value of the image is calculated, and the mutual information is used as the fitness function of PSO to seek the global optimal value of the image and realize image registration. Then, the registration and the floating image are fused. The results show that the algorithm not only improves the ability of optimization, speeding up the speed and accuracy of the algorithm, but also makes the results of image registration more accurate.
