摘要

Accurate and effective fault pole selection is of great significance for fault removal and recovery. Fault pole selection is essentially a problem of pattern recognition, distinguishing a specific fault type from others according to the fault characteristics. Because present research is highly dependent on the simulation without theoretical support, we proposed an effective method for fault pole selection of DC lines based on travelling wave. The fault pole could be effectively selected according to the polarity difference of three fault types through fault travelling wave analysis. The pole-to-modal transform is used to decouple the bipolar lines and wavelet transform is used to extract wave head. Also, an electromagnetic transient model is built in PSCAD to verify the effectiveness of the fault pole selection method.
