Optimal Replacement Scheduling Method of Flood Control Infrastructure Using Dynamical Model

A method is proposed to schedule the replacement of equipment for the drainage pump station which is one of main facilities of flood control infrastructures. The replacement plays an important role in prolonging the life of the station. The station consists of many kinds of equipment. The longterm replacement schedule of each piece of equipment is designed to keep the reliability of station. For a practical schedule, the rationality of cost and the easiness of implementation are required. The rationality of cost means that the equipment replacement schedule is logical and efficient for cost. The total replacement cost of scheduling period is optimized. By the flexible cost constraints, leveling of annual cost is achieved reasonably. The latent replacement cost presenting the impact of replacement after the scheduling period is incorporated into the evaluation, and the robust schedule is obtained. The easiness of implementation means that the replacement work on site is carried out quickly and smoothly. The group collective replacement is applied which is to replace multiple pieces of equipment related in terms of placement or function collectively. In modeling, the dynamical representation is introduced to describe the relationship between the deterioration and the replacement of equipment. The problem is reduced to the mixed integer programming one. The proposed method is illustrated by the numerical case studies for the model station. The characteristics of method are clarified.
