The underwater acoustic (UWA) channel is examined when a dominant noise source exists in shallow water and the sampled noise probability density function (pdf) is not Gaussian. The noise is modeled as additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN). The average secrecy capacity and the outage probability for secrecy capacity are derived for this case. Results are shown that, even if the eavesdropper has a better channel than the communicator on average, there still exists nonzero average secrecy capacity.
