Identification and Management of Growing Security Threats towards KSA

Today most of the people can receive and send different forms data and information such as video, audio and an e-mail by just being able to access the internet. But have you ever asked yourself how secured is the data or the information that is being sent or transmitted to another person? The answer to this troubling problem lies in the cybersecurity. The consequences of the cybercrimes to the countries' economy are worrying. The ability and techniques to manage cybercrimes effectively are, therefore, significant especially for a developing country like KSA. Even though we have witnessed a remarkable move toward identification and management of these threats, including KSA establishing the National Authority for Cyber Security, it is not sufficient. The study interviewed security experts to have a clear understanding of the growing security threats in Saudi Arabia and formulated an appropriate approach on how to manage these threats. The study identified that low levels of ICT capability and education, poor awareness among most ICT user in KSA and lack of appropriate legislation are some of the primary factors identified by the study that contribute to the growing security threats towards KSA. Creation of cyberlaw, capacity building, training, collaboration, and development and implementation of norms can help to manage and avert the growing security threats.
