A Control Strategy of Hybrid Reactive Compensator with Reactive Power Pre-specified

On the basis of hybrid reactive power compensation system, this paper presents a method to obtain the number of capacitor banks of Thyristor Switch Capacitor (TSC) and output instructions of the Static Var Generator (SVG) according to pre-specified reactive power output of SVG when TSC reaches steady state. It avoids the over current phenomenon caused by the full compensation of SVG in hybrid compensation system. The entire control system includes the master computer system and salver computer system. The constant reactive power mode or the constant power factor mode can be selected on the master computer of the system. The number of capacitor banks of TSC and output instructions of SVG can be calculate on the master computer and its command value is transferred to the slaver computer to realize the control of the whole system. The feasibility of the compensation algorithm is verified by simulation. The validity of the structure of the system is verified by experiments and its result show the validity of both the algorithm and the control system.
