In this paper, the power systems computer aided design (PSCAD) model of offshore wind turbines with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is completed, and the fault ride-through characteristics of DFIG for wind turbine during grid fault are analyzed. A method of changing the reactive current compensation of the grid-side converter control strategy is proposed. The detailed DFIG for wind turbine and its fault ride-through model were built in the PSCAD/EMTDC, an electromagnetic transient simulation software. The simulation results prove the correctness of the model and the effectiveness of the proposed reactive current compensation method.
