The stability of a Grid greatly depends on the fault recovery process of wind farms. A variety of different Fault Current Limiters (FCLs) have been investigated by the researchers. Inclusion of FCL leads to enhancement of Fault-Ride Through (FRT) capabilities of the system. The Grid Codes (GC) are developed with incorporating Low Voltage-Ride Through (LVRT) as one of the obligatory requirement for integrating wind farms with the Grid. In this paper the response of wind farms to a fault occurrence has become very important to study grid stability. Various grid codes have been defined for this purpose and Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) has been given as one of the major requirements for integration of the wind farms to the grid. In this paper, a simulation study has been done with Resistive-type Solid State Fault Current Limiter (R-SSFCL).The results are compared with Series Dynamic Braking Resistor(SDBR)to check the qualitative performance of proposed FCL. The proposed R-SSFCL has been found to give better-quality Fault Ride Through (FRT) capabilities which can be attributed to maintaining LVRT at faulty situation. The graphical results obtained from simulations show that the proposed FCL effectively improving the FRT-capabilities.
