摘要

A prototype induction heating arrangement has been developed for heating of metal samples of low melting point. The purpose of the development is to study the efficient and gradual heating of metal samples with low melting point using induction heater and explore the possibilities to use it in the metal ion generation in ECR ion sources. Here a ZVS parallel resonant inverter is used to generate a sinewave of 250kHz frequency and fed to the iron workpiece. A cylindrical, hollow iron piece is used as the workpiece, inside which a ceramic crucible is placed to keep metal samples for heating experiments. The experiment has been carried out with different types of metal samples like Mg, Al and Cu. The temperature of the workpiece is measured with a K type thermocouple.
