A Novel Approach Based on Gesture Recognition through Video Capturing for Sign Language

摘要

Communication is an important life skill which helps us to understand and provides a way to interact with the outside world. Communication language consists of facial expressions, hand gestures, and tone of speech for interpreting the actions and words spoken by a person. Sign language is the only source of communication for deaf and dumb people to communicate with the outside world. But very few normal people can understand the sign language properly. Sign language changes with the change of geographical regions, language and religions. So, almost every country of the world has its own sign language. India also has its sign language which is used by the physically impaired community (Indian Sign Language (ISL)). The work discussed here is a novel approach for recognition of ISL from continuous video captured from the web camera in real life condition.
