Tri-post insulator is the key insulation component of UHV and EHV gas insulated transmission pipeline (GIL), and its mechanical reliability is directly related to the operation safety of GIL. In this paper, the principal stress distribution of the tri-post insulator in 1100 kV GIL is systematically analyzed, considering the thermal expansion, electromagnetic vibration and conductor deflection. Finally, according to the simulation results, the reliability analysis of insulator operation under multiple operating conditions is carried out based on the ultimate stress and safety factor.
