This article belongs to a series of publications on the design and assessment of the MULDICON UCAV configuration, a 53deg swept flying wing aircraft concept. The studies presented here were performed as part of the NATO STO Research Task Group AVT-251 on "Multi-Disciplinary design and performance assessment of effective, agile NATO Air Vehicles". This article focuses on the development of the overall concept, starting from its predecessor, the SACCON configuration. After discussing the selected design requirements, it provides an overview of the design steps being performed and gives an insight into the applied aircraft design methodology at DLR. Finally, the article evaluates the MULDICON concept with respect to its design requirements and provides a conclusion to the work of AVT-251.
